Chilean born director, Claudio Droguett, has had an eclectic career in advertising, working in genres from beauty to politics and social change. After graduating from Careers Communications in 1982, he traveled to New York to study film and landed a job in the TV department of BBDO New York. During the 10 years spent in the agency as an executive producer, he worked closely with many major advertising Directors, producing multiple ads for accounts like Pepsi, Visa, GE, Lever, Dupont, Polaroid and others.
Then came another transition in his career. While working as executive producer for BBDO NY, Claudio was asked to create and manage a project for the Council of Fashion Designers of America and that was how he started my career as a Director, taking over projects for Vogue, Time Warner, IBM, Warner Bros., Ralph Lauren, W Magazine, John Bartlett, Bill Blass, etc. He directed some of the most influential personalities of the time, including Katharine Graham and Anna Wintour, who he filmed on six separate occasions.
As a producer, Claudio has managed to attract major international projects around the world to be filmed in Chile – helping to open up the production services business even before the existence of the Europe or US companies in that part of the world. He also worked with the agency on the creative side, creating successful identities for many important Latin American brands, ranging from retail to airlines – and continued to attract international clients.
Claudio’s recent projects include the successful advertising campaign for the outgoing Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, where he both wrote and directed the TV spots. He is currently living in Spain where he continues directing commercials for various international brands, primarily in the beauty category in which he has shot more than 40 personalities and celebrities in USA, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin America.
